Alameda Point Naval Air Station
Alameda, California, USA
Solving the transportation system and reducing auto traffic was a key element to this proposal winning reuse master plan of Alameda's 760-acre former naval air station. The plan proposed a mix of new and adaptive reuse spaces including restoration of a historic seaplane lagoon, and focused on a multimodal transit hub containing ferry service, local bus transit and a state-of-the-art aerial gondola linked directly to the West Oakland BART station. An innovative program of deconstruction recycling and green building was also programmed.
