Jindu Summer Palace
Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China
Located in the garden city of Hangzhou, this award-winning project sits entirely on a podium garage with a physical plan that responds to the discovery of a 2,500-year-old gold necklace and other artifacts found across the site. Viewing this as good fortune, a museum site amongst three-story townhomes and duplexes is planned within the community. Architecturally, classical French elevations are designed with stone material and wood doors and windows, a reference of coastal China's rich colonial history and the Shanghai French Concession.
